E2.0 European Summit
The European Enterprise 2.0 Summit took place in Paris February 7th and 8th. It was two days packed with keynotes, interactive sessions, round tables and two very social evening events. If you did not follow it live on Twitter, you can still catch up at #e20s. I recommend taking a look at:
- Rawn Shah's opening keynote: Value Creation is Inherent in Social Business and Dion Hinchcliffe's closing keynote: (slideshare): Next Generation Ecosystems.
- Emanuele Quintarelli's reports on the 2 days: here and here and Samuel Driessen's numerous live blog posts starting here.
And the photos, for fun! I'm in the bottom row of the first page in the middle of an intense conversation! Flickr. There's lots more posts out there, so just check the twitter feed #e20s.
Intranets and Digital Workplaces - where are they in the E2 world?
These words were not heard often during the 2-day summit. Nevertheless, there was a lot of interest in the Digital Workplace Trends 2012 report. The intranet or digital workplace should be at the heart of enterprise 2.0 initiatives. It will be essential for us as an industry to evolve to a business level of discussion to achieve that.
I ran an interaction session at the E2.0 Summit on "How to go from an information-based intranet to a social intranet". The group identified 3 obstacles: senior management understanding, user resistance (even if only passive), and, more worrying for me, internal communicator resistance. As the legacy owners of the intranet, many communicators are uncomfortable with the social changes, in particular how their roles are impacted. The group also identified key actions to fight back against the challenges. More on this later.
Digital Workplace in Brief: 5 Fundamentals
I just published a blog post with a revised diagram of the digital workplace and a brief discussion around five fundamentals that will help organizations plan their strategies. If you have any comments, challenges or feedback, please get in touch.
See you in a month!
